Experiences matter
While I’ve had the privilege of leading travel courses through RISD’s prestigious design program, I am now excited to offer similar immersive experiences to a broader audience of artists, architects, and designers. Whether you're a professional, student, educator, or design enthusiast, these tours are designed to inspire and engage creatives of all levels.
Exposures matter
Growing up in a single-parent family in rural Japan, I had limited opportunities for exposure and intellectual stimulation. At the age of 12, I was fortunate to be selected as a member of the national abacus team and travel to Los Angeles to perform abacus calculations at public schools. It was the first time I saw the world beyond Japan, and it completely broadened the possibilities I could imagine for my future. Without that early exposure, I might never have discovered how much imagination grows from what we encounter. Thanks to that early opportunity, I eventually became the first in my family to attend university and to study abroad. Exposure is everything—it opens minds and expands possibilities.
Curiosity matters
Traveling with curious minds from around the world multiplies the power of curiosity. This is not a typical tourist experience—it is guided by curiosity from the perspective of an artist, designer, educator, and lifelong learner. Curiosity is hard to teach, but it sparks critical observation, new perspectives, and ideas that might not exist yet."
